ANNA ANCHER – artistic in a Nordic light
The intensity of the light on the narrow sandy spit between the waters of the Skagerrak and Kattegat inspired impressionist artist Anna Ancher to paint light to dark transitions. Realised in this range in light and dark styles with little accents such as tiny cross-stitch embroidery on rustic linen. This understated look is offset by shades of red for startling intensity and warmth. The styles include both the painter’s smock blouse and its ‘parent’, the classic painter’s smock, both of which evoke a fin-de-siècle silhouette. Here past meets present in the pastel strokes of impressionist artists translated into digital prints to capture the hand-printed feel, on airy voile. Combine with cosy knits with classic borders with a rustic and hand-knit feel.
