Just like your first encounter with India, can be an assault to your senses (the heat, noise, colours, smell of food) – your first introduction to Sutapa could feel that way.
If you persevere, you will appreciate the warmth, generosity, and the depth of creativity.
I was born in Kolkata (Calcutta). My parents were both doctors. Despite the financial security, I had a somewhat difficult childhood.
I am now a Consultant in Neurodiagnostic, in London; my specialty being paediatric epilepsy.
I am also a professional Indian Classical Dancer (Odissi form), which is my passion and motivation and paved the pathway to become a model and actor (hence my screen name- Oishi). I trained professionally in Odissi only after moving to London and becoming self-sufficient. I am a creative stylist, with special interest in fusion, which my social media reflects.
I write my own blog, indulge in water-colours, and rock painting with acrylic.
I was enthralled by Gudrun Sjödén, 17yrs ago. It felt like a unique blend of Indian spices, with Scandinavian fruits and vegetables; the rustic, rural essence of the East, with the gardens of Europe. The designs and ranges, all had stories behind them – of travel, nature, recipes, crafts and creativity. It was not just a brand but a community, that I am delighted to be part of!
