All around the globe in my scrapbook

Hello there!

Whenever I leaf through my scrapbook, I find so many treasures, imaginative ideas, a trove of patterns. Both those painted on my yellow veranda on my island sanctuary, and from my many trips out in the wide world. On my veranda, I often paint designs and styles in an eclectic mix. I let my imagination flow, with no limitations. On my trips, I meet with suppliers and have to record the facts on fibre types, fabric composition and other technical details. What printing capacity do they have? Is it a big factory or a cottage industry workshop?

My pink ROSAMUNDA was painted using the watercolour named Opera Rose, a shade of magenta distinct for its vivid intensity.

Madame FRANCOISE is an embroidered blouse in the “4 directions//4 blouses” group.

Green TUSSAH SILK is likely dyed using natural pomegranate and real indigo; a combination I discovered on my last visit to India.

SANGANER dress is the namesake of the renowned block-printing village of Sanganer located south of the vast city of Jaipur, where I usually stay at Samode Haveli or Samode Bagh, the tent hotel.

Colourful snips of linen. For these, each shade has been top-dyed, meaning that the un-spun fibre tops are dyed, rather than the final spun fibre.
