The scent that fills Rose Valley in the Balkan Mountains does not reach as far as Stockholm, where we are taking photographs for our spring collection of block-printed handcrafted creations. Instead, our senses are delighted by the fragrant rambling roses growing outside my window on Bastugatan. There’s no need to go all the way to Bulgaria!

 

The more than 300-year-old, intensely fragrant Rosa Damascena inspired the designs created by my colleague Pia. It grows on the plains of Bulgaria and came to the region via the world’s oldest trade route, the Silk Road.
