TEA GARDEN - inspiration from plant-based colours
At home I fill my watercolour pad with simple flowers, tendrils and stripes. Their colours inspired by the different kinds of tea. Gentle hues, created by dyeing textile fibres using the different tea leaves, give the collection its theme. We’ve also transformed the tiny flowers into a printed jersey fabric with brighter tones of marigold yellow, lush yellow-green and graphite. My book “Natural Palettes/Inspiration from Plant-Based Color” tells me that the grey shade could have been produced from Gunpowder Green Tea.
