Gudrun’s Stockholm
Gudrun loves exploring new places and cultures, but there is one place that she is especially fond of... and that’s her home city of Stockholm. Here in this beautiful city of water and islands, Gudrun has compiled a guide to her own personal favourite spots – teeming with inspiration, history and creativity.
Stockholm city
Central Stockholm boasts an abundance of beautiful parks, museums, theatres and opera houses.
The city centre is located on a number of islands and islets, giving rise to its name of “Venice of the North”. From here you can take one of the many ferries out to the archipelago.
Gudrun’s very first store is located right in the heart of the city. Regeringsgatan 33 is the address of our largest ‘Gudrun Palace’, which opened in 1976. From here, everything is within easy reach.
Gamla stan
Gamla Stan was built in the Middle Ages and was the centre of the city.
The beautiful medieval buildings and narrow streets offer plenty to see and discover. This is where you find the Royal Palace, one of the residences of the Swedish Royal Family. Gudrun’s large concept store on two floors is on one of the liveliest streets, Stora Nygatan. This store houses a colourful medley of clothes, home textiles and plants.
Hornstull
Dynamic Hornstull! This neighbourhood has been a hub in south Stockholm since the Middle Ages.
In recent years it has evolved into a vibrant scene with markets, vintage boutiques, charming restaurants and cosy cafés infusing it with life. It also boasts a sandy beach and allotments for avid gardeners. In fact, this place has it all for those of us who like that village feel in the big city.
Gudrun’s outlet store
Visit our outlet store in Årstaberg!
This is the location of our head office and warehouse, and you’ll also find great styles from past collections at super prices. There’s often something fun to check out – samples on sale, ad hoc events and other exciting happenings. We also have a little café here for when you need a break from bargain hunting.
Rosendal’s Garden
Rosendal’s Garden on Djurgården is a green oasis a mere stone’s throw from central Stockholm.
It’s also a favourite venue for the Gudrun Sjödén team’s meetings, photoshoots and other projects. Rosendal is a haven of sustainability, greenery and well-being. A green space that inspires us with creativity, experiences and learning. The Garden’s café uses its own biodynamically grown vegetables in the lunches it serves, and you can pick your own bouquet of flowers from the Garden’s flower field.
Artipelag
Where nature meets art.
The name Artipelag is a contraction of the three words Art, Activities and Archipelago. Artipelag is a large art gallery on the north-east shore of Baggenfjärden in the Stockholm archipelago. Surrounded by bare rocks and pine trees, its vision is to provide a beautiful setting in which to experience art and culture.
Stockholm’s archipelago
The Stockholm archipelago is a cluster of 24,000 islands, islets and skerries.
Home to quite a number of permanent inhabitants, the islands also attract lots of tourists who hop on board the ferries for a fantastic archipelago experience. The Stockholm archipelago is a slice of Swedish paradise. It is also Gudrun’s getaway, where she goes to recharge her energy – her own paradise in the outer islands of the northern archipelago, where the bedrock is 2,000 million years old. The rocky hollows and crevices support a diversity of plants and provide a habitat for a range of wildlife. It is not unusual to see gulls, nutcrackers, eider ducks and terns here... all birds that have featured in our designs over the years.
