The fragrance of the Rose Valley near the Balkan mountains doesn’t quite reach us in the hills of Södermalm, Stockholm, where we photograph this spring’s block-printed series. Instead, we admire the climbing roses just outside my window on Bastugatan Street. We don’t have to go all the way hela to Bulgaria!
My colleague Pia was inspired by wonderfully fragrant, 300-plus-year-old Damask roses. They grow in the plains of Bulgaria and arrived there via the world’s oldest trade route – the Silk Road.
