Gudrun’s travel tips
Over the brand's 50-year history, Gudrun has traveled the world and accumulated a treasure trove of memories. Here are some colorful travel tips that caught her eye - both from faraway lands and here at home in Sweden.

Lodhi Colony art district
– Lodhi Colony, a true gem
in central Delhi, is a wonderfully inspiring place.
The building facades are painted with murals of imaginative patterns and designs featuring people, plants and animals. We see beautiful facades in shades of green, blue, and black and white, which frequently appear in the background among our collections.
Gudrun often visits this continuously evolving area while she’s in New Delhi – there is always a new mural to discover!

Lodhi Garden
– A large park in central Delhi,
where tall trees provide shade and greenery.
Discover the tall bamboo, thriving banyans and beautiful, blossoming trees.

Qutab Minar
– Home to an enormous minaret,
built many centuries ago.
It is incredibly beautiful, with decorative pillars in different kinds of stone, all in warm shades of brown. Try to arrive as early as seven in the morning, when the area opens to visitors.

The Claridges Hotel
– There are several good restaurants
to choose from here. Especially the restaurant Pickwick, which is Gudrun’s absolute favorite.
Cool down with an Indian Kingfisher beer alongside your meal, and enjoy kulfi – a cardamom ice cream – for dessert.

India Gate
– This is a grand,
stately area with wide boulevards in the heart of Delhi.
It is a memorial to fallen soldiers of World War I. On our early sunrise visit, we thought we would be alone – but there were already lots of people out jogging, walking, or playing with the dogs who had slept there overnight.

Santushti
– A shopping center
in a little park with elegant brands like Tulsi (not to be confused with Italian Tulsi).
Gudrun enjoys popping in here for a hand-tied silk shawl. Lovely cafés where you can have a fresh salad and enjoy a glass of sweet lime soda. Or why not a refreshing cold coffee with ice cream?

Hotel Imperial
– Another hotel
that has excellent restaurants. The café is great for lunch and dinner.
If you’re a larger party, then do book a table! When it isn’t too hot out, a table on the terrace is lovely. Spice Route – This beautifully decorated restaurant is like a work of art. You’ll find Indian dishes, such as butter chicken, dal/lentils, spicy lamb dishes and more.
The bookshop at The Imperial is a nice place to look around. It has lots of fascinating books, for example on Indian textiles, and beautiful books of photos from various parts of India.
The swimming pool at the very upscale Imperial is impressively large. A once charming old hotel, today it shimmers in brass and mahogany. Definitely on the expensive side!

Lutyens Bungalow
– A small, family-owned hotel
with about 20 rooms in a garden, with sales of their own plants and pots.
Enjoy breakfast or dinner at a long table together with other guests. A nice swimming pool if you want to take a morning swim. Cozy rooms and good air conditioning.

Khan Market
– This shopping center
in India has lots and lots of little shops selling clothing, dishes, home textiles and much more.
My favorite shops are Anokhi (block-printed clothing/home textiles), Fabindia (Indian clothing, dishes and home textiles) as well as several small Indian design brands.

Stockholm
– A trip through Gudrun’s Stockholm
Discover Gudrun's beloved Stockholm through her personal favorites around the Swedish capital. Places brimming with inspiration, history and creativity.

Lisbon
– blue and white tiles and fabulous Sintra
Azulejos is the name of the beautiful, iconic tile that adorns many walls and buildings in Lisbon.
At Santa Luzia Terrace, you can admire the blue and white tiles while soaking in a breathtaking view of the city.
The globally acclaimed MAAT – Museum of Art, Architecture, and Technology – is a striking, futuristic building covered in white tiles that truly catches the eye. An exciting contrast to Lisbon's otherwise historic architecture.
A visit to the royal fairytale village of Sintra is a must while you're here. Surrounded by lush forests and fanciful buildings, Portugal's royals lived in this magical setting. Riding the small TUK-TUKs or the classic trams between Lisbon's hills is also an experience in itself. Don’t miss the trendy Alcantara district, where graffiti, cool shops and exciting restaurants come together.

Mallorca
– the secret garden
Olive groves and vineyards rush past as we head toward Valldemossa on Mallorca.
We pull up at Son Viscos, a golden-brown stone house nestled into the mountainside. Below, a lush garden spreads out along the ancient stone walls. The scent of thyme, rosemary and mint fills the air, and the tall vegetables gently sway in the breeze.
Son Viscos is one of many agriturismo farms in Spain, once a ruin, now converted into a B&B and surrounded by farmland. Owner Michael Roberts shares how they discovered old stone paths and walls hidden in the overgrown garden. Today, cacti, herbs and vegetables thrive here. We enjoy a delicious Spanish paella, followed by ensaimada – a sweet pretzel-like pastry typical of Mallorca.
The island is home to the Joan Miró Foundation and the museum honoring the legendary artist. Miró lived and worked here, with three unique buildings each telling a different story of his life. Here you'll find magical architecture surrounded by the cacti that inspired Gudrun’s watercolors. A studio adorned with colorful doors, a magical 18th-century studio where he created his sculptures, and a large gallery displaying some of his greatest works of art.
It’s as though Miró’s universe and the vibrant colors of Gudrun’s clothing merged in perfect harmony.

Vesterålen
– snow-covered fjords and majestic sea eagles
In Vesterålen, close to Lofoten, you’ll encounter a stunning landscape with deep fjords and snow-capped mountains.
Here you can truly experience the grandeur of nature, where the mountains and the sea merge in a magnificent panorama. To reach Vesterålen, we fly in small planes with two connections. After a bus ride to the coast, a large open RIB boat is waiting to take us on to Finvåg – an experience like no other!
We meet Unni and Asle Sordahl, who live in a charming converted schoolhouse from 1864, offering a wonderful glimpse into the history of the region. They talk about the traditions of Vesterålen and share the rich culture. They also treat us to local delicacies: fish, meat, vegetables, and berries from the area – a true culinary experience.
A visit to the historic fishing village of Tinden is like traveling back in time. Fishermen have been struggling here since the 16th century, and the restored buildings bear witness to the harsh life at sea.
Exploring Vesterålen also means going out to sea. You can see both whales and the majestic sea eagles soaring over the fjords. The ever-changing weather – where bright sunshine can suddenly turn into blizzards – makes every moment an adventure.
